BambooCycle Frame Build Your Own

Weekend Long Workshop - Sept. 30-Oct. 3

Roanoke will be hosting the FIRST EVER bike building workshop in the United States. You pick the style - gravel, road, beach cruiser, cargo, or hybrid and Diego, owner of BambooCycle, will lead a weekend long workshop to guide you in building your very own custom bamboo frame. 

Cardinal is here to support you in the build out, and will be hosting the event at our Grandin Village location.

Women's Bike Maintenance 101

Thursday, October 13 @ 6-7pm

No need to be intimidated, Cardinal Bicycle is here to give you the knowledge and confidence you need to perform basic maintenance and repairs on your bike. Example topics: Avoiding flats, checking tires, checking brakes, basic safety, equipment needed for roadside/trailside repairs, and how to change a flat, etc.

Mountain Biking Skills Clinic

Saturday, October 29 from 9am-12pm @ Carvins Cove 

Learn new skills with our IMBA-certified instructors with a half day training at Carvins Cove. This is a paid class at $75 for a half day class. This class is folks who already know how to ride. 

Instruction will cover essential bike anatomy and riding terminology, safe riding practices, foundational skills like neutral vs. ready position, body positioning for optimal performance, and braking tips so you don't end up over your handlebars.

Ride safely and confidently, and enjoy riding more after learning these skills.

Ride starts at 9:30am at Cardinal Bicycle Grandin, so you can have your breakfast and coffee at the shop first (shop opens at 9am). It is a no drop, but please ensure you can maintain a ~15mph pace before joining this group. Ride route example.

M&M Mountain Bike Ride

9:30am Sundays
Carvins Cove (Bennett Springs Lot)

The M&M ride is a mountain bike ride every Sunday at 9:30 am, starting at the Bennett Springs parking lot at Carvins Cove.

The group typically has 2 or 3 ride groups of varying ability levels to accommodate most abilities.

The group is really fun and welcoming, and has converted many folks into mountain bikers already...so come and be one of them!

L' Eroica Roanoke

This is NOT an official shop ride (it has been happening for years before the Grandin location existed). However, they currently start and end at Cardinal Grandin.

Known as "America's Friendliest Road Ride" for all levels. This is a gorgeous rolling route with many distances and climbing options.

The Mullet Mountain Bike Ride

The Mullet is a no drop INTERMEDIATE mountain bike ride, out of respect for the other ride members we ask that you are able to ride up Mill Mountain prior to joining.

The ride typically lasts 1.5 hours, and ends with a happy hour and pizza and bar snack options at the Cardinal Café.

A conversation-paced gravel and pavement ride leaving from Cardinal Bicycle Grandin to start off your Saturday morning on the right...wheel. Roanoke has a wealth of gravel riding routes to be explored, and cycling buddies to be made.

Cardinal Bicycle Grandin

Cardinal Bicycle hosts a Femme, Trans, Woman, Non-Binary friendly rides, free classes and event every Thursday! Come as you are on any style of bike you have. The current ride is typically a sub-10 mile, no-drop social ride. Have fun, make friends, and ride bikes.

Après pizza, snacks and beer will be available until 9pm at Cardinal Bicycle Cafe.
